About Saunders Beach
Saunders Beach is a coastal town and suburb of Townsville on Halifax Bay, about 33 kilometres north-west of the Townsville central business district. The beach stretches roughly five and a half kilometres from Althaus Creek along the coastline to the mouth of the Black River, and the northern end offers free camping reserves. Originally a river-mouth holiday spot with tents and weekender shacks, it is now a popular local destination with a boat ramp, community centre and parks.
