About Town Common
Town Common is a coastal suburb of Townsville, Queensland, largely occupied by the Townsville Town Common Conservation Park. Bounded by the Bohle River and the Coral Sea, most of its flat, low-lying land is wetlands that become an important waterbird habitat after summer rains. The land was gazetted in 1869 as common land for the people of Townsville and is known locally as "The Common".
