Mutarnee is a rural coastal locality on the banks of Crystal Creek, approximately 67 kilometres north-west of Townsville on the Bruce Highway, near the rainforest village of Paluma. The area is characterised by sugarcane farming and grazing, with the North Coast railway line running parallel to the highway through the town.
