About Balgal Beach
Balgal Beach is a coastal suburb and beach in the City of Townsville, Queensland, about 48 km north-west of the city, adjoining the town of Rollingstone. The beach was named Balgal in 1947, a word thought to mean stone in an Aboriginal language, and the first house blocks were surveyed that year. It is one of the better beaches north of Townsville.
