About Alice River

Alice River is an outer south-western suburb of Townsville in North Queensland, about 29 kilometres from the city centre. The area was named in 1865 by a member of the Bell and Reid exploring party for a lady of his acquaintance, and its earlier name Rupertswood came from the estate developed by Sir Rupert Clarke, named after his ancestral home near Sunbury in Victoria.
