About Highfields (Qld)
Highfields is a town and locality about 12 km north of Toowoomba's CBD along the New England Highway on the Darling Downs, at around 700 metres elevation. Originally developed in the 1860s as a timber-getting and dairy-farming area, it is now a fast-growing semi-rural satellite community known for its unique art, craft and food outlets. The Highfields Sport and Recreation Park and views toward Gowrie Mountain are notable local features.
