About Doonan
Doonan is a rural residential locality split between the Sunshine Coast Region and the Shire of Noosa in Queensland, Australia. Situated in the Sunshine Coast hinterland approximately 15 kilometres south-west of Noosa Heads, it covers rolling hills and small acreages drained by Doonan Creek. The name is believed to derive from an Aboriginal word meaning "leaf." Settled by agropastoralists from the nineteenth century, the area retains a semi-rural character with notable landmarks including Lone Tree Hill, Mitchell Hill, and the Noosa Valley Golf Club. A proposed railway from Eumundi to Tewantin was abandoned due to World War I.
