About Moffat Beach
Moffat Beach is a coastal residential suburb of Caloundra in the Sunshine Coast Region, Queensland, located two kilometres north-east of the Caloundra CBD and 93 kilometres north of Brisbane. Named after James Campbell Moffat, a Brisbane chemist who acquired 20 acres of coastal land in 1882, the suburb features the heritage-listed Moffat Head which provides a point break and memorial to the 1863 Queen of the Colonies shipwreck. Moffat Beach Park contains heritage Norfolk pines planted around 1928, and the annual Pa and Ma Bendall Surfing Classic has been held since the 1960s. The Des Dwyer oceanway walking track and Caloundra Cemetery from 1910 are local landmarks.
