About Cooroibah
Cooroibah is a rural locality in the Shire of Noosa, Queensland, located 7.2 kilometres north of Tewantin and 150 kilometres north of Brisbane. The name is an Aboriginal word meaning place of possums. The entire Lake Cooroibah is within the suburb and the Noosa River marks part of the northeast boundary. A section of the Great Sandy National Park is in the north of the locality. The largest flood recorded at Lake Cooroibah was 2.55 metres in 1992. The area is predominantly rural and residential with significant natural features including the national park, lake and river, forming part of the Noosa hinterland.
