About West Wellesley Islands
West Wellesley Islands, also known as the Forsyth Islands, is an island group and locality in the Gulf of Carpentaria within the Shire of Mornington in far northern Queensland. The low-lying islands lie south-west of the main Wellesley group, closer to the mainland, and are uninhabited. Traditionally Yangkaal country, they sit within the Thuwathu/Bujimulla Indigenous Protected Area and are fringed by mangroves and tidal flats.
