About Gangalidda

Gangalidda is a coastal locality in the Aboriginal Shire of Doomadgee on the Gulf of Carpentaria in north-west Queensland, about 125 km north of Doomadgee. The original Doomadgee Aboriginal Mission was established at Bayley Point in the locality in 1933, but after a cyclone destroyed the settlement in 1936 it was relocated to the present-day township of Doomadgee. The locality is named after the Ganggalidda people.
