About Shelburne

Shelburne is a vast coastal locality in the Shire of Cook on Cape York Peninsula in far north Queensland, approximately 150 kilometres north-east of Weipa. It is one of the most remote localities in Australia, encompassing the Shelburne Bay dune field with giant white silica sand dunes rising hundreds of metres high. The area includes Wuthathi (Shelburne Bay) National Park, co-managed with the Wuthathi Aboriginal Corporation, and lies adjacent to the Great Barrier Reef World Heritage Area waters.
