About Jardine River

Jardine River is a coastal locality on Cape York Peninsula in far north Queensland, split between the Shire of Cook and the Shire of Torres, about 22.6 km south of Bamaga. Most of the locality lies within protected areas, including Apudthama National Park, and it borders the Coral Sea to the east. The locality takes its name from the Jardine River, named after the Jardine brothers, who overlanded stock to Somerset in 1864-65.
