About Lansdowne (Qld)

Lansdowne is a remote rural locality in the Blackall-Tambo Region of Central West Queensland, located about 862 kilometres northwest of Brisbane near the Barcoo River. The landscape features semi-arid outback pastoral country with flat terrain typical of the western Queensland interior, supporting cattle and sheep grazing. The Blackall-Tambo region has a long pastoral history dating to the 1860s, and nearby Blackall is famous for shearer Jackie Howe's 1892 world record of 321 sheep in seven hours and forty minutes at Alice Downs.
