About Kynuna
Kynuna is an outback town in north-western Queensland, on the Diamantina River where the Landsborough Highway crosses it. It grew as a supply point for nearby Kynuna Station and was gazetted as a town in 1894. Local legend holds that the suicide of a shearer at nearby Combo Waterhole inspired the Banjo Paterson song Waltzing Matilda. The town lies at the edge of a ring-shaped crustal feature thought to be an ancient asteroid impact.
