About Julia Creek
Julia Creek is an outback town and locality in the Shire of McKinlay in Queensland, on the Flinders Highway between Mount Isa and Townsville, about 664 km west of Townsville. The town began as a railway terminus in 1907 when the line was extended to service the Cloncurry copper mines, and it is associated with the endangered Julia Creek dunnart, a small marsupial rediscovered there in 1991.
