About Gunpowder
Gunpowder is an outback town and locality in the City of Mount Isa in north-west Queensland, about 128 km north of Mount Isa. The area, formerly known as Mount Oxide, was a copper-mining centre: deposits found by explorer Ernest Henry in 1882 were worked in major phases from the 1920s until the early 1970s.
