About Camooweal

Camooweal is an outback town in far north-western Queensland, about 190 km north-west of Mount Isa and 12 km east of the border with the Northern Territory. Lying on the Barkly Highway beside the Georgina River, it was gazetted in 1884 and grew as a rest stop for drovers and travellers on the stock routes. Wiliyan-ngurru National Park, known for its ancient limestone cave systems, is nearby.
