About Archer River
Archer River is a remote locality in the Shire of Cook on the Cape York Peninsula in Far North Queensland, named after the Archer River which flows west through the locality to the Gulf of Carpentaria. The Peninsula Developmental Road passes through the locality, where the Archer River Roadhouse serves travellers. Land use is predominantly grazing on native vegetation, and the Oyala Thumotang National Park lies in the south-west. The area is on the traditional lands of the Kaanju and Linngithigh peoples.
