About Cashmere

Cashmere is a semi-rural suburb in the City of Moreton Bay, Queensland, situated 27 km north-west of the Brisbane CBD in the foothills of the D'Aguilar Range, bordered to the north by Lake Samsonvale, the reservoir formed by the North Pine Dam on the North Pine River. The name derives from early European settler James Cash (1859), combined with the Old English "mere" meaning lake or pond, and was formally adopted in 1979; Cash's Crossing, a ford on the South Pine River, recalls the same pioneer. Much of the land along the lake edge is state forest, while the eastern side of the suburb features rural residential acreages, the One Mile Creek linear park, and reserves including Jan Sked Reserve, Ogle Park, and Raymont Reserve.
