About Shute Harbour
Shute Harbour is a coastal locality and harbour in the Whitsunday Region of Queensland, about ten kilometres east of Airlie Beach and the main gateway for visitors to the Whitsunday Islands. Opened in 1961 and devoted exclusively to tourism, it has regular ferries, bareboats, charter yachts, water taxis and seaplane services to the islands. The harbour is named after Shute Island, and a rebuilt marine terminal reopened in 2021 after the original was destroyed by Tropical Cyclone Debbie in 2017.
