About Mount Rooper

Mount Rooper is a coastal locality in the Whitsunday Region of Queensland, forming a mountainous headland on the Coral Sea coast about 10 km east of Cannonvale. Its three main peaks, Notch Hill, Mount Merkara and Mount Rooper, were named during Royal Navy surveys in the 1880s and 1930s, the mountain itself overlooking Rooper Inlet near Shute Harbour. Almost all of the locality is protected, lying within Conway National Park and Conway Conservation Park, with the Proserpine-Shute Harbour Road along its south-western edge.
