About Richmond (Mackay - Qld)
Richmond is a north-western suburb of Mackay in the Mackay Region of Queensland. Although gazetted as a suburb, most of its land is used for agriculture, predominantly growing sugarcane, with a network of cane tramways carrying the harvest to the local sugar mill. The heritage-listed Richmond Mill Ruins stand on Habana Road, and the former Nindaroo State School operated within the suburb from 1899 to 1963.
