About Mackenzie River
Mackenzie River is a large locality in the Isaac Region of Queensland, situated within the Bowen Basin coalfields approximately 145 kilometres north-east of Emerald. The Mackenzie River forms the locality's southern and eastern boundaries, and the area contains several active open-cut coal mines including Foxleigh, Oak Park and Lake Lindsay. The locality is traversed by the Fitzroy Developmental Road and is near the township of Middlemount.
