About Dittmer
Dittmer is a small rural town and locality in the Whitsunday Region, about 19 kilometres west of Proserpine in the tropical hinterland of the Whitsunday coast. The locality is named after Felix Dittmer, who bought a gold mine in the area. After the mine was liquidated in 1952 it became a ghost town, and the area now supports sugar cane and cattle grazing.
