About Cape Hillsborough

Cape Hillsborough is a coastal locality in the Mackay Region of Queensland, with the Coral Sea surrounding it on three sides. The northern part of the locality lies within Cape Hillsborough National Park, a peninsula of volcanic origin covered in rainforest. The cape was named by Lieutenant James Cook in 1770 in honour of Wills Hill, Earl of Hillsborough. The nearest major town is Mackay, about 49 kilometres to the south-east.
