About Rathdowney
Rathdowney is a rural town in the Scenic Rim Region of Queensland, on the Mount Lindesay Highway about 32 kilometres south of Beaudesert at the base of the McPherson Range. The district was taken up as a pastoral station in 1876, and the town that grew up was named after the station, which itself took its name from a place in Ireland. Rathdowney is the gateway to Mount Barney National Park and the surrounding bushland along the Logan River.
