About Woodend (Qld)
Woodend is an inner suburb of Ipswich, Queensland, Australia, situated on a bend of the Bremer River. Named after the home of Arthur Macalister, Queensland's second Premier, Woodend was the site of Queensland's first coal mining, with the Radstock Pit established in 1854. The suburb has a strong heritage character and is home to Ipswich Grammar School (1863), St Mary's College, St Edmund's College, and the Ipswich Pteropus Conservation Park.
