About Karalee
Karalee is a rural residential suburb of the City of Ipswich, Queensland, located approximately 9 kilometres northeast of the Ipswich central business district and 38 kilometres southwest of Brisbane. Bordered by the Brisbane River to the north and the Bremer River to the south, the suburb's name derives from the Ugarapul Indigenous language, meaning "pretty hill beside the water." Officially gazetted by the Queensland Place Names Board in 1973, Karalee is characterised by its spacious residential lots, riverside setting, and semi-rural character. Local features include the Karalee Shopping Village, Karalee State School, and access to recreational activities along the Brisbane River including canoe trails.
