About Boonah (Qld)
Boonah is a rural town and locality in the Scenic Rim Region of Queensland, located 86 kilometres south-west of Brisbane near the Fassifern Valley, McPherson Range and Main Range. Established in 1882 and originally known as Dugandan Scrub, the town is surrounded by hills including Mount French and Moogerah Peaks. Frog Buttress is a popular rock climbing cliff and Wyaralong Dam was constructed east of the town. The Fassifern railway line, Queensland's first branch railway, reached Boonah in 1887. Heritage-listed sites include Christ Church Anglican from 1890, the Australian Hotel and the Boonah Butter Factory.
