About South Stradbroke

South Stradbroke Island, known in the Indigenous language as Minjerribah and colloquially as South Straddie, lies in Moreton Bay south-south-east of Brisbane in Queensland and forms the northern end of the Gold Coast. The island is separated from North Stradbroke Island by the Jumpinpin Channel, which formed in 1898 when storms and tides cut through what had been a single island.
