About Runaway Bay
Runaway Bay is a coastal suburb of the City of Gold Coast in Queensland, bounded to the east by the Gold Coast Broadwater and to the south by Biggera Creek. Land along the Broadwater was bought for development from 1939, and from 1972 the area was developed as a residential and boating suburb under the name Runaway Bay, coined to promote the area as a tranquil retreat.
