About Pimpama
Pimpama is an outer suburb of the City of Gold Coast in Queensland, located 50 kilometres south-south-east of Brisbane. Established in 1860, the name is of Aboriginal origin meaning place of soldier birds. A farming community from the 1860s, Pimpama became a major arrowroot production area by 1908 and was the Cobb and Company coach terminus. The suburb sits on the Pacific Motorway and was the last remaining rural town on the motorway between Brisbane and the Gold Coast. The heritage-listed Laurel Hill Farmhouse is a local landmark.
