About Ormeau

Ormeau is a hinterland locality in the northern Gold Coast, set on rolling hills between the Pacific Motorway and the Darlington Range and bounded to the south by the Pimpama River. Historically a sugar-planting district, it later transitioned through arrowroot, dairying and small-crop farming before suburban development accelerated from the 1990s onward. The suburb is noted for the critically endangered Ormeau bottle tree and is served by a railway station on the Gold Coast line.
