About Austinville
Austinville is a hinterland locality in the City of Gold Coast, between Mudgeeraba and Springbrook, about 24 kilometres south-west of Surfers Paradise. The valley follows Mudgeeraba Creek with rugged country on the Nimmel Range to the west, and the southern areas fall within Springbrook National Park. Established in 1934 as a banana plantation to resettle unemployed workers during the Depression, the settlement was largely abandoned by 1939 and the rainforest has since regrown.
