Wellesley is a remote rural locality in the Maranoa Region, with the Carnarvon Highway running through it. Land use is predominantly cropping in the north and grazing on native vegetation in the south, set on the semi-arid open plains typical of the Maranoa, lying south of Surat and south-east of Roma.
