About Narko

Narko is a rural locality in the Toowoomba Region of Queensland, 48.3 km north of Oakey. The Great Dividing Range passes through the north-east with elevations up to 700 metres. Cockatoo Creek flows south through the locality. Narko State School operated from 1908 to 1937, and the Cooyar railway line served the area via two stations from 1913 until 1964. The name is an Aboriginal word meaning good soil.
