About Maclagan

Maclagan is a rural town on the Darling Downs, approximately 80 kilometres north-west of Toowoomba in the Toowoomba Region. Originally surveyed as Bismarck in 1889 after Otto von Bismarck, it was renamed Maclagan in 1916 due to anti-German sentiment during World War I; the surrounding area is used for grazing and broadacre farming.
