About Kowguran

Kowguran is a rural locality in the Western Downs Region, approximately 20 kilometres north of Miles and east of the Leichhardt Highway. The area is known for the RAAF Area Explosives Reserve established in 1942, where concrete bunkers stored ammunition during World War II before the site was decommissioned in 1956. Today the former military site operates as Possum Park, while the surrounding locality supports cattle and sheep grazing on open grazing land.
