About Dalby

Dalby is a rural town and locality on the Darling Downs in Queensland, serving as the administrative centre of the Western Downs Region. It began in the early 1840s as a crossing place on Myall Creek, a tributary of the Condamine River, and was surveyed, proclaimed and named Dalby in 1854. Long known as the City of the Plains, it is the commercial centre for the northern Darling Downs, the state's most productive wheat-growing district, and hosts one of Australia's largest cattle markets.
