About Tieri

Tieri is a mining town in the Bowen Basin of Central Queensland, in the Central Highlands Region. Built from scratch in 1983 to house workers for the nearby Oaky Creek coal mines, it was laid out on the former Crinum cattle property and its streets are named after the cattle stations that once surrounded it. Tieri serves as a service centre for the surrounding coal mines, with Emerald about 90 kilometres away.
