About Mount Macarthur
Mount Macarthur is a sparsely settled rural locality in the Central Highlands Region of Queensland, about 25 kilometres north-east of Capella and 78 kilometres north of Emerald in the Bowen Basin coalfields. The landscape is mountainous, with five named peaks including Scotts Peak at 854 metres and Ropers Peak at 804 metres, all named by explorer Ludwig Leichhardt during his 1844 to 1845 overland expedition. The locality supports grazing on native vegetation across rugged bushland and pastoral country.
