About Mount Morgan
Mount Morgan is a rural town and locality in the Rockhampton Region, Queensland, Australia, in the Dee Range about 38 kilometres south-west of Rockhampton. It grew around the Mount Morgan gold mine, one of Australia's most important gold strikes, discovered in 1882 and once the largest gold mine in the world. The town was the administrative centre of the Mount Morgan Shire until March 2008, when it was amalgamated into the Rockhampton Region.
