About Minerva

Minerva is a vast rural locality in the Central Highlands Region of Queensland, about 71 kilometres south-west of Emerald. Named after the Minerva Creek company reserve, the area was served by the Springsure branch railway line from 1887 until the section beyond Wurba Junction closed in 2013. The Minerva Mine, an open-cut coal operation formerly owned by Sojitz, produced export coal from the mid-2000s until ceasing production in 2021.
