About Goowarra

Goowarra is a rural locality in the Central Highlands, situated near the Capricorn Highway between Emerald and Blackwater. The name derives from an Aboriginal word, and the area was historically occupied by the Gayiri people. The locality was once served by a railway station on the Central line, operational from 1887 until the 1970s, and land use is now primarily cattle grazing.
