About Cockatoo (Qld)
Cockatoo is a sparsely populated rural locality in the Shire of Banana in central Queensland, about 56 kilometres east of Taroom. It is characterised by rolling grazing land and was historically home to Cockatoo Creek Station, a major sheep and cattle property established in the 1860s.
