About Callide

Callide is a rural locality in the Callide Valley within the Shire of Banana, approximately 10 kilometres north-west of Biloela. The area is notable for the Callide Coal Mine, where excavations began in 1944, and the Callide Power Station which has operated since 1965. Land use is a mix of cropping and grazing on native vegetation, with the Moura railway line passing through.
