About Biloela

Biloela is a rural town and locality in the Shire of Banana in Central Queensland, about 120 kilometres inland from the port of Gladstone at the junction of the Burnett and Dawson highways. The name comes from the Gamilaraay word for white cockatoo. The town was established in 1924 on land that had been part of the Prairie pastoral run, and it is now the shire's administrative centre and a service town for the Callide Valley and its coal-fired power station.
