About Alton Downs
Alton Downs is a rural locality in the Rockhampton Region of Queensland, Australia, located 19.5 kilometres north-west of Rockhampton. Named after a pastoral property, the area features open grazing landscapes. A school operated from 1890 to 1964, and the community hall (1905) and St James' Anglican Church (1907) remain historic landmarks. A sunflower crop planted here in 2020 raised $25,000 for cancer research.
