About Wrights Creek (Qld)

Wrights Creek is a rural locality in the Cairns Region of Queensland, roughly halfway between the towns of Edmonton and Gordonvale. The locality takes its name from the Wright brothers, who brought cattle to Wrights Creek in 1878. Most of the land is low-lying flats farmed for sugarcane, with the Bruce Highway and North Coast railway line passing through the south-west and cane tramways carrying the harvest to the nearby Mulgrave Sugar Mill. It is situated on the traditional lands of the Yidinji people.
